VPS proxies relay RPC and GeckoTerminal traffic through remote machines, each with its own Infura API key. This spreads credit usage across multiple keys and avoids IP-based rate limits. For reliable operation, run 3+ proxies so the pool can absorb a node going offline.

Setup flow: Click Add VPS → fill name + Infura key → copy the one-liner → send it to the operator. They run it in PowerShell as Admin (~2 min, no prompts). The proxy self-registers and appears here automatically.

How updates work: Each proxy checks for code updates every 5 minutes. When you merge changes to rpc_proxy.py, all proxies auto-update and restart within ~5 min.

Status is Down but the proxy is running on the VM

Likely NAT hairpin — the bot can't reach the proxy's public IP from inside the same network. Edit secrets.json vps_proxies[].url to the LAN address (e.g. http://10.0.0.11:9100). No restart needed.

Operator says the install link is rejected

Token may have been claimed by a different IP. Click Rotate Token on the proxy card and send the new one-liner.

Status flapping between Healthy and Stale

Operator's machine may have intermittent connectivity. Check their proxy logs at C:\CryptoBotProxy\logs\stdout.log.

Pending Claim for hours

Operator hasn't run the installer yet, or it errored. Have them re-run the one-liner and check %TEMP%\cryptobot-proxy-install.log if it fails.

Zombie process blocking port

A stale python process from a previous install may be squatting on port 9100. The installer now detects this automatically. If already installed, operator should check Get-WmiObject Win32_Process -Filter "Name='python.exe'" and kill the stale process.

Uninstall a proxy

Send the operator: irm "https://crypto.grit.bot/proxy-uninstall" | iex — run in PowerShell as Admin. Server-side cleanup happens automatically.
